The body ink and cover-up services at the Mars Hill tattoo shop are spearheaded by Carlos Marshall, a licensed veteran tattoo artist with over 24 years of experience and mastery in a variety of styles including watercolor, new-school, and old-school, realism, gothic cover-ups, and graffiti. To date, he has etched over 777 tattoos for his clients, helping them bring their vision to life with unique and custom designs. Carlos has honed his tattooing skills over the years serving clients all over the country, including in Richmond, VA, Washington DC, Gloucester, VA, and Maryland, among others.
“I love what I do,” says Carlos, “and that is what drives me to give this art form everything I’ve got. I also love creating with the help of my friends. I feel tattooing is a collaborative process between me and my clients. Getting to know them better and understanding what they want from their tattoo is a joy for me. Seeing the happiness in their eyes when they see the custom design that I have crafted for them is what my art is all about.”
